Add a watermark to a PDF

Words or an image across your pages

Write the words — CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT, a client's name — or choose an image, then how faint, how large, at what angle and on which pages. Words are set in one of the standard faces every PDF reader has (Helvetica, Helvetica-Bold, Times-Roman, Times-Bold, Courier, Courier-Bold); an image is drawn at most 50% opaque, so it always reads as a watermark over the page and never as a stamp or a signature on it.

Over the page, never into it

The watermark is drawn over each page and tagged as a watermark, so a screen reader skips it and any PDF tool can tell it from the document's own text. The page beneath is not redrawn: its text, drawings and images are the same stored bytes as before, and every page is compared with the original before the file is made — not one pixel outside the watermark may change.

Adding, not removing

A watermark is a security feature. This tool adds them, and it will not remove or alter one: a correction that would take away any part of a watermark is refused.

Add a watermark now — it opens the tool, with nothing to install.

The record

The new file says what was added to it, on which pages and where, in the record it carries and in your account's trail. The file you started from stays as it was. Files are deleted after 90 days, or whenever you erase them.
